Turkmenistan

Turkmenistan

Turkmenistan is one of the world's most isolated and mysterious countries, where the surreal meets the ancient. Home to the Darvaza Gas Crater (the famous "Door to Hell" burning since 1971), the UNESCO-listed ruins of Ancient Merv on the Silk Road, and Ashgabat - a gleaming white marble city with Guinness World Record architecture - Turkmenistan offers truly unique experiences found nowhere else on Earth. Note: Tourist visas require advance planning through tour operators.
